The Central Asia Watch (CAW) Project started in 2018. CAW tracks economic, social, and political developments in Central Asia by creating and maintaining an interstate conflict and cooperation news database. The Project’s mission is to contribute to international conflict prevention and monitoring efforts. The database tracks news published on the Central Asian state news agencies and international news agencies. News articles are coded according to their geographic scale, issues covered, and Conflict Cooperation Scale (CCS) to detect changes in multilateral and bilateral relationships over time.

Central Asia Watch is a project organized under the auspices of the Eurasian Research and Analysis Institute, Inc. ERA Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit global virtual think tank devoted to studying Eurasian affairs. The organization periodically publishes timely, reliable, and innovative reports and articles that cover a wide array of topics and sub-regions.
